2004 | Daniel Hurley

Daniel Hurley became president.

A TCDLA membership drive was initiated during Daniels presidency with the ultimate goal of attaining 3,000 active members. All of the membership dues that were collected during this membership drive were wholly dedicated to TCDLA’s legislative efforts. Daniel began efforts to increase membership by extending TCDLA’s presence to areas where TCDLA did not have a major presence. Membership districts were added and old membership districts were realigned.

Other points of interest for Daniel included effective legislative efforts by TCDLA, focusing on the Death Penalty Sentencing, Insanity, and Indigent Defense reforms of 2004. Daniel truly believed that through a more active and increased membership, TCDLA could increase funding for legislative efforts, an important part of improving the criminal justice system in Texas for all citizens.
