Criminal Defense Lawyers Project

The Criminal Defense Lawyers Project (CDLP) has three main goals it seeks to accomplish through the grant provided by the Court of Criminal Appeals from the Judicial and Court Personnel Training Fund: (1) to provide continuing legal education training on criminal law, forensics, and trial practice for lawyers who represent indigent defendants; (2) to produce high-quality educational materials on criminal law to assist lawyers in defending persons accused of crimes; and (3) to develop a program to train attorneys in order to be better qualified to represent indigent defendants accused of capital murder and provide technical assistance to attorneys representing clients accused of capital crimes. CDLP exists to promote the effective and equitable administration of criminal justice, in partnership with the Courts of the State of Texas.
