Lane Thibodeaux is Board Certified in Criminal Law (2000-Present) and Criminal Appellate Law (2019-Present) by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He was previously Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law (1999-2015). Lane has tried more than one hundred criminal cases to jury verdict or mistrial, including two capital murder-death penalty cases. He has also been attorney of record in more than one hundred appeals. Lane was a member of the Committee for Death Penalty Approved Counsel for the Second Administrative District of Texas from 2012-2019. His short story, "Bouquet by Numbers," was the winner of the 2012 Texas Bar Journal short story fiction contest, and another, "Boxes," was named a finalist in their 2017 contest. He holds a B.A. degree in Government from Sam Houston State University (1981) and a J.D. from South Texas College of Law (1985). After retiring from private practice in 2024, Lane joined the Brazos County Public Defender's Office, where he focuses on direct appeals and post-conviction writs.
