John Torrey Hunter, a 4th-generation attorney and 7th-generation Texan from Amarillo, earned his BA in Philosophy from the University of Texas in 2008 and his law degree from St. Mary’s Law School in 2012. After clerking for Goldstein, Goldstein and Hilley, he practiced as a sole practitioner before co-founding Hunter, Lane & Jampala PLLC in 2019. His work focuses on criminal trial litigation, appeals, and post-conviction habeas corpus. He has handled a wide range of cases, including capital murder and federal drug conspiracies, and has argued in state and federal courts, including the Supreme Court. John serves on the board of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and is the incoming president of the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He also contributes to the LexisNexis Texas Criminal Practice Guide and lectures on various legal topics. He is licensed in Texas and several federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
