Graduated Texas Tech University in 1970. Graduated from law school from the University of Houston in 1973. Since 1976, maintained a solo general practice of law in Levelland and Lubbock, Texas, with emphasis on criminal and family law. Licensed in the Northern District of Texas. Previously qualified by the Court of Criminal Appeals for appointment on State Death Penalty Writs of Habeas Corpus. Previously qualified for appointment as first chair in capital murder cases in the 9th Administrative Judicial District. Member of the Hockley-Cochran County Bar Association; 286th Judicial District Bar Association; Lubbock Area Bar Association; Former board member of the Lubbock Area Bar Association; Member of The Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas; The College of the State Bar of Texas; Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation; Former Board Member to the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association; and Former Board Member and Past-President of the Lubbock Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Currently Professor of Law (with tenure) and Director of Criminal Clinics at the Texas Tech School of Law.
