Growing up in Corsicana, Texas Steve A. Keathley was educated in Corsicana schools and attended Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, a Ross Volunteer and the Head Yell Leader. He attended law school in Minnesota and received his Juris Doctor in May of 1993. He was licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas to practice law in November of 1993. Steve began his ca-reer as a felony prosecutor in the Hill Country in the 33rd Judicial District in Llano; Travis County District Attorney's Office; and the Brazos County District Attorney's Office. In 1996 Steve returned to Corsicana where he started a private practice with Dunn and Associates. In 1998, he and his wife Sarah began Keathley & Keathley, a gen-eral community law practice. In 2002, Steve ran for and was elected Criminal Dis-trict Attorney of Navarro County, Texas. He served in this position until 2007. Ste-ve returned to private practice at Keathley & Keathley, where he focuses on crimi-nal defense. Steve is a member of the State Bar of Texas, The College of the State Bar of Texas, and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association where he had the honor of being a board member as well as serving on various committees. Steve has also been asked to serve as a Course Director for TDCLA continuing legal education, as well as serving as a faculty member of the TCDLA Trial College. In 2024 Steve was elected to the State Bar of Texas Criminal Justice Selection Council and has been a speaker at CLE presentations. In addition to speaking on a variety of criminal law topics, Steve gave the 2025 Texas A&M Aggie Muster address for the Nueces County A&M Club in Corpus Christi, Texas held on board the USS Lexington. He enjoys the game of Blackjack, tending to his garden and cows, and spending time with his wife Sarah and their children.
