The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (CCA) has authorized travel funds for FY 2026 (September 1, 2025, through August 31, 2026) to be used specifically for public defenders to travel to grant-funded seminars in Texas. You may now begin to request reimbursement for your travel expenses for CDLP programs taking place September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026. Deadline for initial request is January 31, 2026, first come, first serve basis.

Reimbursement Policy
All requests must be submitted for approval by January 31st to be guaranteed up to $750, even if the training event does not occur until later in the fiscal year. If there are any unspent funds after that time, we’ll let everyone make additional requests. The
fund’s policies and procedures are also available by clicking link. Public Defenders who receive travel reimbursement from their office or county may not apply for, or be reimbursed by, this fund for the amount covered by their office or county.
- Meals $41 per day (no alcohol or tips - must have itemized receipt)
- Travel: Mileage .655 cents or coach airfare 30 days in advance
- Hotel Federal rate plus tax (no third party i.e. expedia, hotel.com or orbitz)
- Parking or taxi far (not tips)
- Itemized receipts are required, not just credit card charge receipt
