Gretchen Sween is a solo practitioner based in Austin, Texas. She earned a Ph.D. in Humanities before obtaining a J.D. at the University of Texas School of Law. After years laboring on the civil side, a pro bono representation in a death-penalty appeal for a person with a pending execution date prompted her to make a big change. Since 2015, her practice has been devoted full time to representing indigent individuals facing the death penalty in Texas.
