He has handled eight capital cases and none of his clients have received the death penalty. He served as Chair of Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers' Educational Institute for many years and was instrumental in the location and purchase of the new TCDLA home office building Hill Meadow Drive in Austin. Other offices held by Randy Wilson include Treasurer, Secretary, Vice Chair and Chair of the Criminal Justice Section of the State Bar of Texas; Secretary, Treasurer, Second Vice President, First Vice President and President Elect of Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers' Association; Secretary Treasurer of The Abilene Bar Association. He is a frequent speaker at seminars on a variety of topics and has been on the faculty of the Criminal Trial Advocacy Institute for twenty eight. In addition, Randy has a radio show in Abilene called "You and the Law", that has been on the air for 20 years which allows members of the general public to receive free legal advice.. Randy has been married to Jo Ann for fifty-two years and has two children and three grand-children
