Public Defender Travel Stipends | PD travel request form (pdf)
The Court of Criminal Appeals (CCA) has authorizedtravel travel funds for FY 2012 (September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012,) to be used specifically for public defenders to travel to grant-funded seminars in Texas. You may now begin to request reimbursement for your travel expenses during CAILAW and TCDLA programs taking place September 1, 2011 to August 31, 2012. Deadline for initial request is January 31, 2012,first come, first serve basis.
Updated Procedures
The initial allocation has been reduced from $750 to $500. However, to be guaranteed up to $500, you still must submit a request before the seminar and by January 31, 2012 at the latest. If there are any unspent funds after that time, we’ll let everyone make additional requests above $500.

Criminal Defense Attorney Scholarship Qualifications | Scholarship request form (pdf)
The Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Educational Institute is provides scholarships for seminar tuition are available to deserving attorneys actively engaged in the defense of criminal cases who can demonstrate financial need. Scholarship requests must be in writing and state that the applicant is a TCDLA member and has not received a scholarship within the last two years (Trial College does not count as a scholarship).
Scholarship applicants must send in the following to be considered:
1. Registration form;
2. Letter of request;
3. Letter of recommendation from a Texas or federal judge;
4. Letter of recommendation from a TCDLA member.
Scholarships recipients will receive materials on CD. Course books may be purchased for a $50 fee. Scholarships are awarded to qualified applicants in order received.
